Just came across this video and TBH I'm struck by the irony that if the person who invented and built this tool had gone the legit route, patented it, and marketed it to locksmiths, security professionals, LE, and government agencies, they would have ended up a millionaire many times over.

I am Romanian. In 1990 I was in Rome. I went to the USA Embassy and I read the USA Immigration Regulations Code. And I came across an article regarding categories who couldn't be accepted on USA territory. And it stated, among these categories, THE COMMUNISTS. It stated that citizens of communist countries could have access in USA ONLY if they had formally left the communist party at least 24 months before they applied to immigrate to USA. And I remembered that, in 1978, Ion Mihai Pacepa, Ceausescu's right hand, had escaped and taken refuge to USA and he had been living there ever since, under State protection. And THAT WAS ILLEGAL !!! I asked to speak with the ambassador and I was told that I had to ask for an audience. I went home and I called the embassy and I asked for that audience. The woman on the phone asked me about the reason of my request. I told her that a Romanian communist had been accepted in USA against the USA Law. I never heard a person stutter for so long as that lady. When she finally managed to recuperate control she said they would call me back to give me an answer. Nobody did. About a week later I went back to the embassy and I asked again for the Immigration Regulations Code. THEY TOLD ME THEY DIDN'T HAVE IT !!!!!!!!!!!! That moment I lost my respect for Americans forever !!! I thought I could start writing about the matter to the american newspapers. I'm sure I would have found persons interested in the matter. But I felt so disgusted that I didn't feel like doing anything. I felt like vomiting and I couldn't stand the sensation. And I felt the same hate and the same despise for Americans as I had had for Ceausescu and the Romanian Securitate. You are all the same !!! Bloody bastards !!!

I just want to know how to set the freaking code

So. They must have done some tweaking to the lock mech cuz I had a little trouble with mine. Lost keys and the reader is kaput. Rubber came right off. Then… Funny thing. As soon as the guy said that it was a Chicago lock I knew exactly what happened to the keys. They still work! anyhow, i wanted to pick the lock. I would end up needing two tools. One to push the round bar back, and one to depress the lock itself. They could have just glued the posts for the reader card to the by metal box rather than drill holes.

In my situation, I can't get it opened like shown. I use an ice pick to push the rod back and then apply pressure to get the door to open but it doesn't open...the switch/button/lever that the ice pick is pushing on doesn't move. Should I be avoiding pushing the little bar back while pushing on the switch/button/lever?

This video does NOT show the full reason for this exploit. This only works on locks that have a passage mode facility. Maybe this is for security reasons.
